Shopping...

Yea... i must admit i have been shopping EVERYDAY! without actually making a point to do so, it just happens! haha... Today i read a very interesting article abt a very busy and accomplished lady (Sarah Chang) who says that no matter how busy she is, she'd always find time to shop!

Indeed, I'd totally agree with her, I dun ever remember any passage in time when I couldn't find time to shop! haha.. even in SCHOOL! I was able to shop... at the bazaars or even the book shop! haha....

About pumps..

Recently had a little disagreement with my dear friend on what exactly a pump is... She thought it was generally flats(or was it heels) i think... but I believed it referred to a certain shape/design...

Anw, I've researched a little and concluded that pumps can actually refer to different designs of shoes altogether! Therefore, the next time you hear of it from a foreigner, it might be a good idea to double check his/her definition!

In general however, as the North American definition dominates, pumps refers to heeled type of shoes without straps and a certain cut front like this certain pair I've purchased( talked abt it in my Christmas Day post ).

Beautiful Isn't it? :)

Noticed that I've stuffed newspaper at the toe. This is very good for most covered shoes as it prevents the leather or whatever material from contracting in the cold of the shoe cupboard thus solves your blister problems! :)

Bottle Tree Park

Such a tempting place from afar isn't it??

These beautiful fishes welcome you at the entrance!

And... THIS is the centre of the attraction. A pity that there's only one. I heard there is a bottle tree village, maybe it has more. :)

Christmas Day Outing..

OMG.. it was like a dream come true.. all three of us.. strutting down orchard road.. ok, maybe just them strutting.. i was wearing slippers.. lol... after our dim sum... it was just so exciting.. you wouldn't know unless you've had friends for Soooo long and kept each other updated with all the juicy details of your lives!

Anw, we've had really good stuff at Teochew City:
unlike this deep fried scallop wrap with prawn and yolk lol...

After some very very amazing shopping at Far East ( I bought amazing stilettos at 9.90 {Mondo}!!!!) we headed first to Zara which got us really tired out then to TCC! (Cos I was dreaming over the yummy log cake I had on Christmas eve... so we ended up with LOG CAKES!)

Yea, we ended the day at taka-wisma with MORE SHOPPING. I shall not en-lengthen the shopping with my shopping stories. So here it ends. :P

Re-opening of Old Airport Road!!!

Woah.. today the buses can be heard again.. after i think almost a lifetime... its amazing how noisy it used to be and my mum nv complained, then the construction came and my mum couldn't stop complaining... sigh...

Anw, good that the bus stop's nearer now, just for that few hundred meters i think.

(RE-)Opening of Old Airport Road

Well, Old Airport Road, i.e. the road that runs right across my block is re-opening on monday and they're celebrating today. It's disgustingly noisy downstairs now (esp. since i stay on the 2nd level) Its not like they have one music you know. They're like blasting both english and chinese songs AT THE SAME TIME. So you get this messy of ugly noise. Imagine mixing rojak and herbal chicken soup.

Yes, and I'm blogging in this noise. Imagine how disturbed i must be.

I have not blogged..

As I've been ill... this pain in the throat makes me feel like sleeping every minute of the day...

(msn's damn irritating these two days it doesn't allow me to log in!)

i got the shirt i told you i tailor made today, but i have no photos. tucked it into my cupboard le. Maybe when i finally do have a picture of it i will post. But i'm not too elated with it. It doesn't make me look dashing, its so normal, its very upsetting. Maybe I'm just in an upset mood la. But I should've chosen something different. I like round collar, and no-stripe and some OTHER colour. Also, SHE BLUFFED me! She said the material is wrinkle-free, totally full load of crap. I feel so cheated. By the man who acc me to choose the shirt and the woman who served us. it feels more like a 20 dollar shirt to me. Damn i'm seriously making it sound bad. But i really dun think its worth the money.

Merry Christmas!

Anw, may I present to you... Carlton's log cake!!!

Its got a layer of chocolate mousse and a layer of rum and raisin mousse, totally tantalising, you just cannot have enough of it!

Oriental Wedding Dinner

Was at Oriental to attend the wedding dinner of a friend, first time on my own, without the company of family.

It was amazing, you name it, they have it.

- Tiered-candle stands decor
- Dance for the first dish by the waiters/tresses
- Seperate pot of sharks fin for each of us
- Lobster meat, Sea cucumber, Snow fish?, big juicy scallops
- 6 yr old Compere

The table gift. Sugared almonds. Taste like M&Ms but really romantic packaging.

The Dessert.. omg.. so romantic and yummy, mango mousse and chocolate mousse cake with real mango at the side!

Tree at Vivo City..

Hearing that its the tallest tree ( i think i got it wrong) we went all the way to vivo city just to see the TREE. Can you believe we took like half an hour to find it!? haha.. we saw it at the open roof on first level, thought it was at ground level then went searching for it.

Anw, didn't manage to get a good picture. I found very very nice pictures on it! Think there's another side to the tree with the pretty decorations. Haha.. maybe will go back to vivo to explore again. :P

Seoul Garden

Went to seoul garden today.. wasn't very smooth trip though... there happened to be this huge malaysian tour group who booked the entire seoul garden at taka... So we waited like TWO ENTIRE HOURS before we managed to force our way in...

Anw, the food is good so i'm not complaining.. have a look at the gigantic amounts of meat... this is just one of the many plates of meat we took, as we waited TWO HOURS, we got so hungry we ate alot greater than our usual... haha...

We ate like uncountable amounts of prawns, haha.. grabbed them once they were out, they were irresistably yummy, you have to de-shell it before barbecuing to be able to enjoy the sweet aroma of the fresh meat slightly burnt....

yeah... I also made sze chuan chicken omelette.. very yummy, but we were so hungry, it missed the camera.. :P The kuehs also.. haha.. the kuehs are super la.. i also love the keropok.. haiyoz.. talking abt them makes me hungry! I ate till full.. continued eating till not full anymore.. lol.. like lost the senses to know if i'm full.. so now i've got this i have no idea if i'm full feeling...

Well, take a look at my new concoction, the orange juice chocolate ice-cream float!!!! :P this was darling's reaction to it: "":S

The sound of music..

I watched the movie today.

Can you believe i have NEVER seen the play/musical/movie/know the story!??!!?

Yes, its amazing watching the movie, and replaying all the songs familiar to my ears already. I knew every single note of 'My Fav. Things', 'Sound of Music', 'Do-Re-Mi'... reminded me of ensemble days.. where Ms Ku tried so hard to instil that sense of musicality into the notes we were blindly playing. Of course! we were not told the touching story!

Didn't know it was based on some true family, although i'd say the movie is so fictionised it isn't even close to real-life anymore. :P A beautiful movie still. :)

The Nutcracker

Think this ballet warrants a post to itself.

The funny thing is, they had a very long introduction we had to READ before the ballet started. It kind of drafted out the story in words, den the ballet proceeded. Same for the second half. I kind of got tired of reading halfway.

We got these balcony seats that were 5 seats to a balcony. As the other seats were empty, we had the entire balcony to ourselves! So private right? very cool! undisturbed enjoyment! really good feeling.

The ballet is really good. I mean, the stars la. Haha.. the early parts have a little bit of in-coordination, think they're new learners or something like that. The cast is great, as in HUMONGOUS. They start from little kids as young as 4 i think!

The best part i'd say was after Clara enjoyed the dances by the Sugar Plum Fairy, where everyone (the adults) danced in unison. Omg, the pairs were so in sync and the ladies at the back, although doing different steps synchronised so well! You could really feel the beat together with them!

Although I'm totally not approving of certain costumes that would've cause Mr Tchai to puke his stomach out, I think the lady in the weird costume did do really well with the guys. The way she stood straight on his shoulder and balanced so well.. it was absolutely amazing...

Ah.. another thing to congratulate is the amazement of the men.. omg.. they do their turns like walking! Amazing, the mimicking of the nutcracker was good at the start. Just at the start.

Overall, it was a very nice way to enjoy your Christmas, let the mood sink in, Merry Christmas! :)

Mr Men and Little Miss

Hmm.. i never noticed this cartoon till Stacy pointed it out to me. Think she's in love with it. :)

MOF with Stacy

Ok. She's pressing me for photos so to make it readily available when she returns from genting, i'm gng to post everything here! haha...

That's her at MOF with the chicken bento (that came in this covered up box!!!!)...

This is my yummy ramen... (pretty good but just normally good)

and not forgetting the dessert! its kind of bbqed mochi, very tender and soft, but a little too sweet due to the immense amt of honey they pour onto the plate.. but still, i love japanese red beans..

Toilet Episode

I was at Harbourfront toilet today. And I just had to blog what I saw.

There was this dark-skinned lady in the baju kurung at the sink. Cries of a baby could be heard. As I walked closer, I saw a baby so red and tiny I swear its even tiner than my soft toy eey-ore. At most the height of my arm's length, and totally naked (if you're curious, its a boy), his mother was splashing the tap water on him and he cried at the touch of such cold water. I stared for a moment, about 2 minutes to be exact. Cos I was so apalled I'm not sure if i should recommend the mother a more suitable place for the baby's bath. It's just a week's old baby! And its succumbed to being bathed in the toilet?! Absolutely unimaginable. I was too stunned for words hence walked out without comment.

Spring Cleaning Guide

This post came to mind just before i fell asleep yesterday as I have spent the past weeks tidying up my room, and yesterday cleaning stuff. So, I have gathered some tips from my small experiences within the room and thought it'd be useful to share with all especially since New Year is coming!

Tip # 1:
Start SMALL. Decide on the messiest part of your room and think about how it can become neat. E.g. use organising boxes, clear transperant boxes allow you to readily see the stuff you have, but also causes you to see MORE stuff despite them being boxed up.

Tip # 2:
Do not be a collector of everything. Collection of receipts, past art pieces, memory of your primary school should be kept to a minimal. Stick to just ONE type of collection, e.g. Stamps/Autograph books. You don't need 1kg of stuff to remind you of your primary school days. If you HAVE TO, pick the most memorable piece. THROW OUT ALL THINGS THAT HAVE GONE MOULDY/YELLOW/GROWING BACTERIA.

Tip # 3:
Do not keep things you think will be useful. Keep things you USE. If you haven't touched something for the past 5 years, give it away.

Tip # 4:
Do not keep backups of everything. You dun need excessive pens/notebooks etc. These things will dryout/turn yellow. Therefore, have just one active copy of each stationery.

Tip # 5:
Have wet tissue/cloth and dry tissue/cloth by ur side. Preferably use unwanted cloths as these can be thrown away after dusting. You're most likely to discover clutters of dust when Spring cleaning.

Tip # 6:
Start early in the day. You wouldn't want to end up working late into the night having dug all your stuff out and still need to pack them in at 1am.

Tip # 7:
Keep table tops clear. If unable, keep at least HALF the table top clear of stuff. And ensure it is a entire HALF, not bits and pieces that adds up to HALF.

Tip # 8:
Work SMALL. Do not attempt to clean HALF your room in a setting. You never know what discoveries you may make and get distracted by. So clean corners by corners. Best is Tidy 15x15 inches at a time.

Tip # 9: (Courtesy of darling)
have a vision of how you want everything to look like after you are done
:)

Tip # 10:
Try to give your room a THEME. So when you shop for organisers (or anything you want in your room), ensure they stay within the theme. I used PINK for my room. So I put pink felt on all the tops of my cupboards and dressers etc, to give the room a complete feel.

That's abt all for now, feel free to add on!

The Korean Feast

Ok.. we were erz.. bored.. therefore went to Novena Square to walk walk... ok, correction, i was bored, he was not.

Well, he loves bermudas from cotton on. Haha.. some of their designs are nice la - the ones not on sale that is. :P (He bought stuff from cotton on that day)

Anw, after confusing me with the Novena Square - Velocity - Square 2 combo, we ended up having Korean food for dinner, cos Square 2 is cluttered with Korean stuff - restaurants, cafes, supermarts...

Anw, i'm sorry i didn't take note of the restaurant's name. Its some Korean Casual Dining i think...

This is our starter. I find the tofu too bland, but the rest were lovely. We're both a fan of the sweet ikan bilis. Kimchi is just good, what you expect? Koreans make kimchi. The cucumber is deep in sweetness yet has that tinge of kimchi taste without the spicyness.

He ordered the kimchi soup. I've decided, he's a kimchi fan. And I love kimchi too! haha.. the soup is good la.. spicy enough.. and alot of interesting 'liao'.

And, he decided i'm a bimbab fan. I keep saying, BIMBAB!!!! and repeating it... so, we had bimbab too.. haha.. I'm sorry darling, next time i will mix immediately so the rice doesn't stick to the pot ok?

Old HK

This is a little out-dated. But the day we attempted to go to some HK cafe at east coast and found that it was onli open at 6pm, (i.e. 40mins later) we decided to drive down to Old HK. Which turned out to be a surprisingly great experience!

Very nice atmostphere, but you have to sit next to a window.

The si wa nai cha.. which darling loves..

the yummy 'dan tat'... the skin is so perfect.. haha.. and the custard just so creamy...

steaming char siew buns... haha.. actually three came, but i was so hungry I gobbled the first up before darling toook out the camera... :P

darling's into this suan la tang.. no idea why... haha... but i'm the one who really loves it.. i like the suanness but love the liao also.. but dunno what liao they are...

and of course.. our last dish is the main.. haha... the yummy main that's actually just maggi... but darling loves maggi.. wat to do?

Errata: darling loves INSTANT NOODLES, he dislikes maggi out of them. sigh.. all the same la... maggi, instant noodles... yah.. to me that is..

Project Shop cafe

Anw, that trip to Shokudo was a meet up of old poly mates.. which was followed by a chill out at the P.S. cafe. haha..

we were wondering if its the same P.S. cafe at Dempsey, but didn't manage to find out. Went to the branch at Paragon. Gosh, that night, paragon was packed like sardine! I've NEVER seen paragon THAT packed. Quite surprised!

Yah.. anw, P.S. cafe was really quite cool.. besides the fact of it being in a boutique, they serve really interesting desserts too! We had this banana pie i think.. there was thick caramel and banana chunks in the hard biscuit topped fully with whipped cream. Sorry, no idea where the photo went.

Shokudo @ Heerens

As much as Shokudo is already famous and this not being my first time there... I'd still like to mention my latest trip to Shokudo's latest outlet @ Heerens!

I've tried alot of their stuff already, and I think I'd try to avoid any return trip this Dec lol.. This time round, I tasted the Soba, which to me is really good, though not chilly. The sauce is just special with the extra sesame seeds.

Also feature is the rosti pizza. Haha.. I love rosti. Yummy...

And since S was down with ulcers.. he ordered porridge which was surprisingly delicious too! haha.. think it's really worth it.

First trip to CYC

Well, i must say its generally a little scary. Hm.. no idea why.. maybe cos I just wasn't sure if i was doing the right thing, choosing the right colour, the right material, the right collar, the right buttons, the right design.. etc...

Maybe I should've visited it after I started work. But I figured I wouldn't be so free, neither would my darling be free to acc me there.

Yah.. I sincerely hope the shirt turns out good. Although I used the $100 voucher.. but still, had to top up $40 bucks.. logically i spent 40 bucks on that blouse.. which isn't totally cheap either..

Let me just list what happened:

I first was asked to choose the colour/material of my blouse. I picked abt 4 colours.. and she (the lady serving me) filtered out 1 for me. She said its not prone to crease etc. But it wasn't my favourite colour. I'd preferred a plain one, but both ly and her suggested something with texture. Yea, the rest looks a little too mature I guess.

Den I was asked to try on a blouse (pink one) where she helped me take measurements and asked me my preferences of blouse length, the fit, etc..

Following that I got to choose the sleeve.

Ok, that's abt all in essence. It was quite a quick process I feel. She was very prompt and gives very good guidance and very firm suggestions. So I took most of them.

Now crossing my fingers that it'd turn out good. (Will post the picture next year, when I receive the blouse).

The Pizza Place

And so I have been trying to get H and E to acc me since exam time. I tell you, exams are the most boring time in my life! Yea.. I shopped every other day i suppose, now, I shop every day! Haha.. I need MORE shopping khakis. :P

Yea, I was trying to say, nobody is free to acc me out that often, so suddenly E called very last min to jio me for dinner. Since i'm like so free, I decided to put plans for the evening aside. And off i went to Raffles City.

I'm sure all have heard of Shokudo, J.co, some green tea shop, Ben & Jerrys etc.. but do you know 'The Pizza Place'? at Raffles City basement, we tried 'The Pizza Place' for the first time. And.. the 'Chilli Seafood Pasta' was excellent, but we didn't love the Italian pizza(w/o beef as I dun take cow). To me, pizza not tasty enough.

Conclusion:
The Pizza Place has nice pasta. :)

Here's pictures of the nice Decor and Yummy pasta.

Tea time for tai tai

Have been speaking with H and she brought forward the idea of being taitai without marrying a rich husband/ being rich. Dunno how might that be possible. But what exactly does being tai tai constitute?

Hmm.. according to one website:
To qualify as a Tai Tai, one has to have lots of leisure time, lots of money to spend and lots of gossip to exchange. A Tai Tai would win if Shopping were an Olympic event!

Yeah.. so now i'm one third a tai tai as i have a considerable amount of leisure time, just lacking on the money part as I do not have enough to spend.. sigh... if i dun start work soon.. I'm gng to be incurring debts.... As for the part on exchanging gossips, I do have la.. but i dun like to gossip, doesn't generate ideas, not constructive and at the end of the day, doesn't make me feel good. I'd rather go shopping.

Anw, today is the first time that i'm buying packet green tea, as I usually take it outside, at japanese restaurants. Decided to bring the japanese tea time home, want to make my home more enticing (to myself la). So here's the tempting photo of the green tea i made alongside the japanese biscuits my aunt posted over.

P.S. Never called the japanese 'japs', as I recently heard from a friend that the japanese may get offended!

IBM Certification Agony

I must say, its been a long night.

Went to wait at SOC1-809 at 5pm sharp. There was the usual before PE atmosphere except that this time, I'm the student (not the invigilator). And we waited..

and waited..

Till 5.20pm. Some guy went into the room to switch on the lights, thus we entered. We were given instructions that we will need to login to some account online where the online test will be administered. The most problematic thing was that some proctor will have to enter the code manually for each and every 100 of us before we can even start attemping any question.

And so we waited again.

I was very impatient already as even if they had kept their punctuality I'd have to squeeze in dinner time then rush to Choir practice LATE. Not to mention that I'm so not keen on taking the test anymore as the certification doesn't seem useful (CXXX uses mysql). Also, I might not pass anyway since I didn't manage to finish studying. URgh. So i smsed my darling trying to keep my cool. (Otherwise I'd be screaming at the proctor, at bressan at all the stupid pple who's involved in the delay.)

And then it was 6.20pm. The proctor is slowly approaching my row. If I were to wait till he came to activate my account, and assuming I rush thru the test in 60 mins( meant to be a 90 min test), I'd get to leave at 7.30pm, hungry. If i eat, i can make my way to Choir at 8pm and probably reach slightly after 8pm if i'm lucky to catch a bus. However, I decided to use more conservatives estimate which ended up in me arriving at Choir just nice when it ends at 9.30pm. So it didn't make sense. I walked up to Bressan and told him it's not possible for me to take the test at 6.30pm as I need to practice as I have a performance on Sat. Bressan was nice, he made sure i signed so i get the 100 bucks back etc.

Overall, it was a very pissful 1hour and 20 minutes. I was still very pissed after I left cos that meant I had wasted yesterday studying when I could've done my laundry, cleaned my room, tidied up the cupboard or go shopping!

Damn. Now i do hate NUS + SoC + IBM.

I hate exams..

Argh.. why why why did i sign up for this database certification???

I thought it'd be good? nice 730 cert? erz.. what could i be thinking!>!?!?!

OH! i remember le. I was too bored with school. Since its my last semester, might as well do it. I've got nothing to lose anyway.

Now, i'm losing precious slp, precious time that i could've gone blading, tidying up more of my room, and maybe pestering the HR to quickly let me start working!

Urgh.. just cannot concentrate on studying. Cant wait for tmr 6.30pm to be over! But then again.. I hate to go do a paper i cannot solve. Its just like the Fungi module i took in Year 2! gracious.. do i hate closed-book MCQs.... I'm just not an academic person. I'm more application. okok, must remind myself not to torture myself with exams in future.

Back to studying!

The new album - inside and outside

My stamp collection..

As i was telling my darling, i've been neglecting my stamp collection since ten years ago. ahaha... Anw, I've decided to take it out and arrange them to discover that the old old stamp album passed down by my uncle is kind of yellowing and rotting and growing insects.

Hence the mad cat chase to find stamp albums, MPH doesn't have them, A & BC of raffles city doesn't have them, i suppose the entire Marina and Suntec and Raffles City doesn't have stamp albums as I've popped almost every other possible shop.

When I finally found it at Bugis A & BC, it was more like yay!!! found the treasure!

Therefore, despite its pricey tag (of ~$6.85) I decided to get two! Turns out to be a wonderful purchase as the pricey tag also came with better quality pages and it seems that it'd last a lifetime! yay! haha... Hence spent the entire night transferring my old stamps over then quickly disposing the rotting old stamp albums.

Sidenote on Sony T10..

As I was using it to take the photos of my origami, I discovered the amazing function of the magnifying glass! It allows my pictures of very close objects to turn out clearer!

Yupz, only after two years did I use that function of my camera. Haha first tried out at sungei buloh last sat as some dragonfly refused to appear intact on picture! With the magnifying glass selected, however, zoom is limited. Which makes sense actually, as you only want to magnify small and near objects most of the time.

Origami boxes - the end product

Origami boxes - In process...

Origami boxes - the paper set

Origami boxes

I've been trying to re arrange my many little accessories (earrings, necklaces, bracelets etc) to make it easy for me to select and not somehow leave some nice bracelet neglected and unused.

So bought some transperant boxes from daiso recently, two in fact, they're very unique dimensioned as they're very shallow and most imptly transperant!

Following that I have to arrange all the art pieces in that big transperant box, but need to seperate the pieces so that they do not mix and tangle up. Did think abt using the dividers like the ones found at Daiso but didn't work. Therefore, ended up using little boxes that fit.

Unfortunately, as there are too many accessories and too little boxes, i had to go search for more to no avail. Whilst at A & BC finding my stamp albums, i found ...

paper origami!!!! yeah, and so now I'm starting to fold many little boxes to contain my little accessories!

The revival

of the rainbow marks a new beginning. A new phase in my life.

This blog will document my pro-life activities. As of now, while waiting to start work. This unknown holiday length. I will document the food, the interests the phases of my life.

Slightly inspired by xia xue. It should also contain some view, some of mine own philosophy.

Also decided to make this public, so I can share with all my dear friends in SG and overseas. But being public, also means I need to protect my friends and my family, in future the company i work in too. Therefore, names will be left out as from lessons learnt of bloggers sued so far.
